Every young person should experience the world both inside and beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances.
A risk assessment is an important step in protecting your students and staff, as well as complying with the law. It helps you focus on the risks that really matter in your school – the ones with the potential to cause real harm. In many instances, straightforward measures can readily control risks, for example ensuring spillages are cleaned up promptly so people do not slip, or cupboard drawers are kept closed to ensure people do not trip. For most, that means simple, cheap and effective measures to ensure your most valuable asset - your workforce - is protected.
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require you to provide adequate
and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to your employees if they are injured or become ill at work. What is adequate and appropriate will depend on the circumstances in your workplace and you should assess what your first aid needs are.
First Aid Stop are pleased to be able to offer a range of first aid kits designed specifically for schools and education and also sports first aid kits suitable for dealing with emergencies both in school premises, on the sports field and of course those very important school trips.
Every employer should provide at least one fully
stocked first-aid kit for each site. The
assessment of a school's first-aid needs should
include the number of first-aid kits. Additional first-aid kits will be needed for
split-sites/levels, distant sports fields or
playgrounds, any other high risk areas and any offsite
activities. All first-aid kits must be
marked with a white cross on a green
background.
